Getting settled in a little

Sunday morning I had my tour of Montpellier with two other students, it was alright. Our tour guide didn't impress me overly much, but it was nice to get a little bit of a feel for the city. Now that I've looked at a map of the city since then... I'm a little bit oriented. It turns out the guy that gave our tour (Patrick) is also the Conversation class teacher, so we'll see how that works out.

After the tour I went with Anne to her house and she made lunch. It was me, her homestay student (who speaks no french) and her family. She has a 13 year old son, who by the end of the day she was teasing about being "amoureux de moi." Apparently it's obvious I work with kids. He was pretty fun, until I told him no... then he was rather annoying. Lucky for me I didn't have to do that until we were driving back.

After the lunch Anne and her family took us to Camargue to visit Aiglemort, a tourist city inside huge stone walls. She described it as a small Carcassonne (I'm not sure I spelled that right). Then we went to la Grande-Motte, which is a modern city by the sea and whose buildings are all shaped like pyramids.

In the evening, I worked with a children's grammar book that is used to teach kids to read and write (Bérengère's 5yr old granddaughter is working her way through it). It was hard work, everything is broken down phonetically with the spelling that produces the sounds. It's like my linguistics class, but practical. We had dinner and watched a movie on tv afterward.

Today, I had to get up early and go take my placement test. After the oral part the woman who tested me said I was going to be in the B2 class for a week before moving up to the B2+ class, so I can review the subjonctif. Last summer I was in a B1 class. There are levels A,B,C. The class seems alright, but we'll see how it goes.

I bought a pass for the tram today so now I can get around easily without any worries. Tonight there is a music festival in the city that I'll go to for a little while after dinner.
