Sunday we took things pretty easy since it was Rebecca's 21st birthday!!! I took Rebecca to my Sunday markets, which we both enjoyed. We got offered a "job" in passing... that was new. We ignored the offer. Then it was off to the Eiffel Tower to go up to the top - perfect for her birthday! It was pretty windy and chilly, but we made it up the 670 steps and through the elevator line to get to the top. We finished off the day by eating in a fun and very popular restaurant called Zango.
Monday was New Year's Eve and we started the day by heading off to the 18th arrondissement. I had an hour of tutoring to do and Rebecca wandered through the red light district to see the Moulin Rouge and climbed the hill to see Sacre Coeur. We met up and did a spin around Place Tetre looking at all the paintings - I might have to buy one before I go home as a souvenir! We popped in a little restaurant for lunch before wandering over the the Galleries Lafayette and the Opera house just to see them. We had a lentil salad dinner at my place before wandering around Paris a little at night.
Tuesday we started off the New Year by going to Ladurée and having hot chocolate (I need to remember not to order the hot chocolate there... I don't like it - TOO chocolaty). Then it was off for a little touristy shopping (I bought a beret and some 8x10 pictures) and to go inside Notre Dame. In the evening we had tickets to see Cyrano de Bergerac!!!! It was a good show in a tiny little theater. I really enjoyed it. The summary that I gave Rebecca on our way over helped her follow the action a lot too.
Wednesday was Rebecca's last full day here. We headed off the to the Catacombs and then off to the Marmottan Monet Museum which is near my University. Both were pretty cool, but I lost my hat. In the evening, we went to one of my favorite restaurants, Cafe d'Enfer. I found 10 euro on the walk over (so maybe I'll rebuy the hat I lost...). The food was AMAZING as always. The waiter took a liking to me - so we got to try 3 different digestifs at the end of the meal, no charge. :-)
Today, we're taking the morning easy and Rebecca has been packing up her suitcase. We're planning on going out to a crêperie for lunch before I get her settled on the RER for the airport. It's been really fun having her here.
I think this is all of them!!! - http://flickr.com/gp/76555621@N02/12R7b3/
