Friday I decided to go out to Lille for the weekend and booked a spur of the moment trip!
I got to Lille at 10am on Saturday and wandered about seeing the sights for about 3 hours before sitting down in a cafe for the daily special: endless mussels... It was delicious. I checked into my hotel and relaxed about before going back out to wandered. I ended up having pizza for dinner next to two couples on a double date - 70+ year old couples. The were funny during dinner and teased me a little about eating a whole pizza. After dinner I strolled a little and saw the city lit up in the waning daylight. I turned in just as it got dark - 10pm... lol!
Sunday I got up and attempted to find the huge market that was reputed to happen that morning. Lille is one of the first city - excluding Livermore - where I couldn't make heads or tails on my map and walked in circles and got lost more times in two days than I could count. I never managed to find the market... but still had a great time wandering around. I grabbed some lunch before hopping onto my afternoon train back to Paris.
