Tuesday
Off we went to Monaco on the 1euro bus! It was great! We visited the palace, the napoleon museum, saw the changing of the guard, and went to the Monte Carlo Casino and even drove along the Grand Prix track!
Wednesday was a French holiday and a bus strike - so we thought we'd chill in Nice. We walked up Castle Hill and enjoyed the panoramic views of the city and coast. We visited the Russian Orthodox Church and adopted a traveling assistant - she was like me last year - traveling solo. She was great company and I might meet up with her in the next year or so as we might be living in the same city. :-) Later in the day, we sat on the beach before going to dinner with our new friend.
Thursday started off a bit rocky. We went to Eze, but had some bus issues, though we ended up with the best "seats" in the bus on the way there - standing next to the driver while careening around cliffs and breathtaking views. Eze wasn't amazing so we headed on to hike around Cap Ferrat - a peninsula just next to Nice. Cap Ferrat was amazing. It was a great walk and fabulous for photos.
Friday we visited the Rothschild Villa on Cap Ferrat. We wandered around the gardens and toured the house. The gardens were beautiful and there was even a fountain show! We found a great place to eat dinner: La Tapenade - I had a giant pot of mussels and, for dessert, my mom had a delicious lemon crème brulée!
Saturday we strolled along the coast before heading to the airport to come back to Paris. My mom had the perfect window seat on the flight back with stunning views of the coast and snowy mountains too!
