First week in NY

Well, here I am in New York City getting ready to start my year.  I've been here for a week now, getting all set up in my apartment.  It's a little place near campus and just the right size for me.  I'm almost done organizing everything, and in a day or four (depending on how quickly I post!) I should have a few photos of my place to post.

But first, let me tell you about my first week here with my parents.  Here are the accompanying photos: http://flickr.com/gp/76555621@N02/55h43k/ .

We arrived late Wednesday and I crashed in their hotel since I didn't have my apartment keys just yet.  Thursday we got my keys and started opening all the packages in my place.  Then we built my bed!  We just had to mix in a little NY to our trip and so we mixed in a few outings while we set up my apartment.

Thursday we went off to the Yankees game to watch the Angels trounce the Yankees.  We saw a home-run and then a grand slam!

Friday we saw the Three Musketeers performed in the Riverside Park by the Hudson Warehouse Theater Group.

Saturday we visited the 9/11 Memorial.

Sunday we went on a boat tour around the island of Manhattan.

Monday we went for a morning walk in Central Park before my special Orientation in the afternoon.

Tuesday was spent focusing on finishing up the last few big things in my apartment (like getting internet) and getting everything cleaned up.

This morning we went to the Cloisters museum and gardens before I shipped my parents back home.

Each day we worked on my place a little getting it ready for my year here.  It was a lot of fun having my folks here helping me out and taking me out to see all the sights.  I have a few more things to take care of before the school year starts up, but welcome week is next week and I already have some events lined up to attend!  I'll update when I can and try to get some apartment photos up soon!
