Fly by Catch up of a few weeks ago

I went on a Southern California/Washington DC trip a few weeks ago.

In SoCal, I went to the San Diego Zoo, spent a day with Paula, had dinner with Jenn, sat in on Eric's French class, hung out with Sydney and rode her horse Brego :-).  Here are a few photos: http://flickr.com/gp/76555621@N02/C957h2/ .

Then it was off to Washington DC for a week with Eric.  We got to see Rebecca a number of times on her days off from her internship too.  :-)  Here are my pictures:  http://flickr.com/gp/76555621@N02/5311c2/ .

On day one:  We took a bus tour of DC and got rained on in Georgetown.
Day two:  It was museum day; we visited most of the American History Smithsonian and the Natural History Smithsonian.
Day three:  We went to Mt. Vernon and saw where George Washington lived.
Day four:  We went on a walking tour of the National Mall, which included seeing Obama take off in Marine One from the South Lawn of the White House!
Day five:  We went and visited the Capitol.  Eric's aunt is the Senate's curator and she gave us a private tour.  I learned all about the different restoration processes, heard some fun stories about the Capitol, ate in the Senators' Dining Room, and went out on Senator Reid's private balcony!  It was a very fun day, but not over yet!  Afterwards, Rebecca game me and Eric a whirlwind tour of the National Art Gallery's highlight tour and then we went on a fascinating walking tour about Lincoln's Assassination.  We finished the day off with milkshakes at a Shake Shack.
Day six:  We drove off to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, and weathered out a storm in his house.  We finished the day by driving around the National mall with everything lit up.
Day seven:  We visited the Arlington Cemetery and finished off an exhibit or two at the American History Smithsonian.

I finished the trip off with a relaxing weekend in SoCal with Eric before flying home for a tornado of packing for my next adventure.
