NYC apartment hunting trip

My dad and I headed straight off to NYC after my trip to Tahoe with Eric.  It was time to find an apartment for this fall.

We had quite the worrisome welcome upon our arrival in NYC - unknownly we came up out of the subway in the middle of the grand finale of the NY Gay Pride Parade celebrations.  It was quite the surprise...

Monday was full of visiting apartments and seeing what the areas around NYU were like.  We had dinner in a wonderful French restaurant and I ended up borrowing a book from the restaurant - a series of stories and personifications centered on a deck of cards.

Tuesday we visited a few more promising apartments but in the end we decided to go with one of the first apartments we visited - a few footsteps away from campus!

Here's my place for the fall!  It's just a little studio, but it looks like it will be perfect for me!
It's in the red brick building on the left.  And at the end of the street you can see....
Washington Square Park - the center of NYU

We celebrated having officially rented the apartment with a wonderful lunch at a nice italian restaurant, a nap, a Jazz performance by the Black Butterflies, and a late night sushi dinner.

Wednesday we went to the Metropolitan Opera to see Sleeping Beauty the ballet.  It was quite good.

Beforehand we grabbed a fancy street cart meal...!

Thursday, the 4th of July, we went on a bus tour of Upper Manhattan, saw King Lear performed in a park, and watched the fireworks.

Shots from our bus tour:

On the others side of this Civil War memorial was the King Lear performance.

 We were literally on stage!
 In the action

Friday we took some final measurements of my apartment after an early morning walk through Central Park.

A very successful trip.
