My last week in Grenoble

This week sped by, I can't believe it's over already.

Monday I had class as normal. After class I went to the bookstore Gibert... It was a pretty cool little bookstore (and by little I mean it had three different stores on one street at spread out around a intersection...). I bought 2 kids books, a middle school level book, and a big person read too. After that I went and bought my ticket to Rome!!! It turns out the pass I have DOES work for the trip, unlike what the first lady I talked to at the SNCF boutique told me. The other students here and I cooked ourselves up some dinner since the family was going elsewhere. We made some mean bbq meatballs and a salad to go along with some of the most amazing rice I've had (that Rose made). After that I went out to go up to the Bastille to see the town all lit up at night. I met Megan and we rode the bubbles up to the top. I was a little terrified... the bubbles were swinging back and forth in the really strong wind and the lightning in front of us, behind the Bastille wasn't all that comforting. But the city was rather pretty.

Tuesday I have afternoon class. After class I swung back here to exchange some stuff before running back to downtown to watch part of a concert in the park. It was pretty neat. The lead singer was dancing and, well I couldn't actually understand him as he screamed in the microphone, it sounded cool. I left the concert halfway through because I was meeting my class at a restaurant nearby for dinner. It was a cool to have dinner and talk with everyone from class.

Wednesday I had morning class. After class I didn't do to much, I think I took a nap. At 6:30 I was supposed to be at the CEA office for an appetizer get together, I was a little late 'cause the tram times plotted against me and I had to stop at the post office. At 7:30, we headed over to Le 5, a nice restaurant that is part of Musee de Grenoble. We had a very fancy meal with Patrick, CEA's treat... When we left dinner there were a bunch of people outside dancing. It was really cool to watch. There were about 20 couples doing ballroom dancing on a terrace outside. It was very quaint. We watched them dance for a little bit and then headed to the girls' residence and ended up fooling around with the Taboo game. It was hard! But we managed, even with some people with limited French knowledge.

Thursday my class schedule changed and I actually had class in the afternoon. In class we watched a film called Tanguy (or something really close to that). It was entertaining, but a little hard to follow. Overall it was about a mother and father who's 28yr old son still lived with them and they wanted him to leave. They tried making it unbearable for him there... and you can imagine how things might progress from there. After class I researched different places to stay for the next two weeks and found a few different options for each place. For dinner the family, Rachael, and I went to the Pizzeria since Phillipe had to work. He really likes to sneak up on me when we're there.... he scared me last time I was there too.

Today... well today has been my last day in Grenoble. I had class this morning and on the way to class I had to say goodbye to Nicki, since she was leaving after the first half of the classes and I wasn't going to see her. I had a great last day of class. For the first 3 hours we played TABOO!!! I really do like this game a lot more than I really should. My team won... I kicked butt basically :P. After Taboo, we went outside and our teacher had prepared crepes for all of us and we had crepes and two of the Chinese boys had also made a little food (a chicken soup and sushi). After class we all had to say goodbye. One of my friends left on Wednesday so that had been sad and I didn't know beforehand, I found out at the end of that day. I said goodbye to Natahlie (my teacher who I'm hopefully going to stay in touch with about France stuff), Jose (my friend from Spain), and Andre (my friend from Brazil). Both Jose and Andre told me if I was in there area I was welcome to come and stay with them... So... Madrid and Rio here I come? lol. We'll see.

After class I had lunch with Megan. and then Patrick magically found all of us and bought us all ice cream. After that the girls all had different errands they need to run so I said my goodbyes to all of them and we parted ways. On my way back here some creepy old man decided to talk to me... that was a nuance. Once I got back here I've just been getting things together for my trip and packing. Luckily I can leave a few things here and pick them up when I swing back through the area at the end of the month.

Tonight is going to be my last dinner with the family... And I'll have to say good bye to them and Rachael too. Granted I will see the family again.
