First week of the semester

My week has been a little crazy - being sick hasn't made it easy.

Work on Monday and Tuesday went fine - though in one class Monday, I said about three words in French and one of the girls (who definitely thought I didn't speak French) gasped and then giggled for about 5 minutes...

My first week of classes went pretty well.  Not too much to report there.  My classes look good, but the semester is going to be pretty crazy if this week was any indication.

I definitely had an interesting time Thursday going to observe a class, studying in the library, and going to a class with no voice at all - all day.  Then to top it off, I had no voice all day on Friday as well for my day trip to the Abbaye de Royaumont!  It was interesting to work on non-verbal communication with people...  I, of course, got some great photos.  http://flickr.com/gp/76555621@N02/6i2y1k/

Saturday - I had a very little voice that sounded very strained when talking softly... And it was off to ExpoLangues - a language conference!  I attended 4 lectures about FLE (French as a foreign language).  Some were better than others, but I did get two free books!!!  I'm pretty excited about free stuff as always.  It was a decent event, though quite tiring.  I ran home to drop of my haul before going to tutoring - and I think I managed to get some studying ideas through to my tutee... we'll see.  I spent the evening chatting with Eric, which was very nice.

Today... again - no voice to start the day off with.  I decided to skip the market and just do a grocery store run to save time and rest up.  I tackled homework for this coming week with considerable success.  Then it was off to meet up with the 1st year English teacher from work to watch the movie Lincoln.  Sadly, she had the wrong time, but we sat in a cafe and chatted for a while instead.  We'll try to see the movie another week (she really wants to, and I'm required to for a class).
