Hamburg – Wednesday, Feb. 15th and Thursday, Feb. 16th

I got into Hamburg and to my hotel a little before 3pm without any problems and I went for a walk along the docks for an hour and a half. It was a gorgeous day and the docks were interesting.

Hamburg has one of the three largest harbors in Europe. Later I ate in a restaurant called “Schweinske” (pig +”ske”). It was decorated with adorable cartoonish piggies and seemed quite popular.

Thursday, while eating the hotel breakfast, one of the English guys from my Berlin hostel found me (we didn’t know we booked the same place here too) and we headed off to the free Hamburg tour together. The tour showed us the Rathaus, some churches, and some shipping offices.

It was an okay tour and afterwards I had lunch with 3 people from the tour (the English guy (28), a Canadian girl (19), and a girl from Australia). After lunch the English guy, the Canadian girl, and I went exploring a little and climbed up to the top of a church for a “view” – though our weather was terrible, so the view was not the best.

We grabbed some stuff at the grocery store near our hostel/hotel and had a cheap dinner together before heading off to the Reeberbahn (the right light district). It was something the Canadian and I wanted to see, but wouldn’t have done alone. It was less not the most impressive red light district I’ve seen – though it was interesting how the prostitutes were clearly prostitutes, but were all bundled up like the rest of us…

Friday morning, I headed off to catch my flight to London!
