Sarreguimines and Karnival!!! – Saturday, Feb. 4th and Sunday, Feb. 5th

Isabelle came and picked me up in the afternoon and we headed off towards her place. We made a pit-stop in a store and I put some hats on Isabelle’s two little girls, Margaux (5 years old) and Eva (9 years old).

Then we headed into Sarguimines and I got a tour of downtown. This was so beautiful I had to take a picture.

It sure was freezing outside!!! The water is even a little frozen in that photo! There was also a traditional oven where they used to make the region’s special porcelain.

Next it was time to get ready for the Karnival! I went as Fifi Brindacier…. Yup, you’re asking yourself, “WHO?” That is French for Pippi Longstocking. I thought it went quite well – please note that I am the AMERICAN Fifi Brindacier… I had a little photo shoot with the girls while their mom got ready.

Another teacher and her husband at the Karnival. I liked their costumes.

All set and ready to start dancing at the Karnival!!!

Everyone really dresses up for the Karnival!!!

It was a lot of fun… but getting into bed at 4am is rather tough on me… (Also – it was -15 degrees out on the drive home…)
Tired feet...

Sunday, was very laid back and full of sleeping. I talked a lot with Isabelle and her husband, watched an episode of Fifi Brindacier with Margaux, took a nap, and played a dancing game on the Wii with the girls.

Monday, morning I came back to school with Isabelle… I set the wrong alarm, but I still managed to get dressed, to finish packing, and to get out the door on time… took me about 10 minutes… We dropped the girls off at school and then we headed back here to Freyming-Merlebach.
