This was my first week off from teaching for the "All Saints Day" vacation. I used most of my week to catch up and get ahead on different parts of my homework. Even though I did lots of work, I still got to take mornings easier than normal and relax a little bit. I tended to go to campus early though to do some work there.
Then it was Toussaint weekend, that's right - a 4 day weekend. ♡
Thursday I cleaned up my apartment and started cooking my belgium stew recipe in the afternoon.
Cleaned and decorated! I got all the pictures my dad sent me up on the wall!!!!
Belgium soup in the making!!! That's right - I cooked with a bone! When I went to the butcher's and said I was making a stew with beef - he recommended that I use the "joue de boeuf" (beef cheek) and gave me "un cadeau" (a gift) --> a bone to cook with! I had never cooked with a bone before.
In the evening, 4 classmates +1 (Norah and her friend Gretchen, Stephanie, Anna, and Kaitlyn) came over for dinner. They brought appetizers, salad, and desert!
All set up for their arrival!^
Leftovers➘
We had a nice evening chatting and eating. We stayed mostly in French, but not as well as the last get-together.
Friday, Mina from high school was in town. We got lunch together and hung out at my place catching up and chatting about our experiences in France. It was fun since I hadn't seen her since high school!
Saturday and Sunday I mostly focused on studying, but with some nice breaks. I managed to create a homework schedule this past weekend that really worked out well. I mixed my homework up over different days so I had a variety of different types of activities to do, which made it seem less exhausting.
Overall, it was a pretty great week and I feel decently prepared for my 3 midterms this week.
Your stew looks amazing. I don't use a bone very often but find it really amps up the flavor.
