Monday I headed off to work to teach my two classes and study in between them. One of the teachers was visibly upset that I was working during my finals week - I honestly think it helped me study since I had nothing to do during my breaks.. and I barely work anyway. My final in the evening seemed to go alright. Like the midterm it was supposed to be a 2.5 hour test, though this time the teacher kicked us out at 8h30. Everyone was there for longer than the 2.5 hours and then people just started leaving done or not I think. I think our professor was more annoyed than I was!
Tuesday I was supposed to have students at 8h30 and 10h30, but no on showed up for their classes... So I used the time to practice for my oral exam that evening. Tuesday was a special day at the high school - it was their Christmas celebration. This meant that from 13h30 on - all the classes were canceled.
At noon, I attended a Christmas concert. The past month a group of students (voluntarily) have been practicing Christmas carols, ENGLISH Christmas carols. It was fun to listen too. I took some pictures and some videos (http://www.flickr.com/photos/76555621@N02/sets/72157632286011655/).
Then I sat in on a Syndicat meeting before the special Thanksgiving lunch. I had mixed feelings about the food...
Above: Smoked Salmon, Balinis, and salty whipped cream.
Below: Mashed potatoes, celery puree, chestnuts, green beans, and venison.
Dessert was macaroons. I took mine to go or I was going to be late for my exam!
My oral ended up going alright. The teachers really like the way I present things - my point of view and my enthusiasm. They had a few grammar critiques, but that is normal.
Wednesday morning I started studying for my exam in the afternoon. I think it went alright. It was very straight forward and probably the only exam that we really knew what would be on the test. It still took 2.5 hours, but I felt like I knew most of the material and that my answers weren't bad.
Thursday, my first class went pretty well - though the teacher keeps sending my the same students instead of sending me different ones - so over break I'm going to have to make a bunch of lessons just to be prepared since I never know if I'll be able to reuse a lesson because ONE student in the group has already done it... My second class went VERY poorly - so poorly I gave them a test because they we're being so bad... The third class went much better (but the teacher stayed for that one... since I'm never supposed to have more than 12 students at a time anyway....).
And... now I'm done!!!! I have paper to write over break, but now I can relax and clean and relax and enjoy Paris for 2+ weeks! Rebecca is arriving on Monday - looks like it's going to be a fun vacation.
:-)
