Tidbits from the past week or so

I'm getting better at cooking my steak to the perfect deliciousness...

Last Sunday I went to a play called "Le bourgeois gentilhomme".  It was fairly amusing.  It was about a middle class man who wants to be part of the aristocracy, but is the most gullible man on earth.  For a few words of flattery, he'll give you anything you want.

Monday evening I headed off to Montmartre and snuck a peek at the Sacre Coeur before heading down Rue Livingstone...  This street is filled with fabric shops galore and a few costume shops.  The looks people gave me when I inquired what skirts they had in... brown... could best be described as disbelief.  Luckily one of the shops had exactly what I was looking for and a top to match!  Then it was off to NYU for a conference (that I didn't know had been canceled...).

I've gotten pretty good at making my boeuf parmentier!

Thursday I taught a lesson on "Happiness and Success" - it went well.

Friday we were required to attend a conference all day.  There were five fifth year doctorat students who were presenting their research.  It wasn't very exciting as all the topics were very specific and not easily accessible.  My large question is how did most of my classmates get out of going...?  I was the only person from my teaching program who attended.

Saturday afternoon I rocked the spinach puff pastry making.  So insanely delicious...

Saturday night I went bowling with a bunch of classmates for a birthday.  The bowling alley was in St. Denis, though barely.  As some of us were leaving the metro station, we got warned (nice gesture actually) that this was NOT a good area... and asked if we knew what we were doing there.  The bowling alley was packed!!!!  After working on getting to the counter for 20 minutes, we found out that they didn't have our reservation.  Luckily we didn't have to wait too long to get lanes.  It was pretty fun.  I got 85 in the first game with my right hand and 73 in the second game with my left.

Turkey stuffed with tapenard with oven baked tomatoes.
