End of week 6

Wednesday evening I went out with a group of students from the school. We spent the evening sitting in a cafe chatting. I spent most of the time discussing different French words with a French guy who was there too. He and his friends are doing internships at UbiSoft. It was a rather late night, but I didn't have to go to work in the morning, so I didn't mind too much.

In the morning, since I didn't have work, Bérengère took me to buy work "appropriate" shoes - aka heels. I bought a cute pair of heels and then had lunch with her and her granddaughter. When I arrived at work, Anne was very worried about me since I wasn't there in the morning... When she told me the day before I didn't need to come in the next morning she still wanted me to stop in before lunch, since she and Patrick were going to eat with me. Woops. That afternoon they did a perfume discovery workshop which I got to go to and I helped out a little. It was fairly interesting. After dinner I went to the movies and saw "L'age de raison" with Lindsey and Bérengère. I really liked the movie, though a few parts were a little hard for me to follow at the speed of French they spoke.

Friday I went in to work and worked on my pamphlet after visiting a self-catering homestay. In the afternoon Anne and Patrick arrived since they were having a private Etiquette class and asked me to stay for it. So I ended up getting stuck at work for about 2 extra hours - a bit of a disappointment. I left in the middle of the lesson since I had a rendez-vous at 5 with Lindsey. We went to Le Bookshop for the language exchange. It was good as always.

I went to the Estivales Friday night. Just about everyone I know was leaving the next day (today). I spent most of the night talking with my German friend, Robin, but there ended up being a huge group of 30 or more people, most of whom were leaving. It was a really fun night even with a bunch of good-byes.

Today I went to Sète with Ashley. It's a nearby town that is supposed to be the "Venice" of the region. It was very nice and relaxing. We visited a famous cemetery, wandered around the town, and spend the afternoon at the sea. We didn't exactly go all the way to the beach, but instead climbed over a wall and down some rocks to where the sea hit the rocks and spend the afternoon there relaxing. On our way back we came across a school of "la joute" doing a performance in one of the canals. La joute is basically a mix between crew and jousting, aka - awesome. We watched that a bit before catching our train to head back here.
