Picked up the last few things for my apartment and worked at
getting more set up.

My parents and I did a practice run of my route to work and
then to NYU. We had a little trouble
locating the high school where I’ll be working, but we managed after a
while. I’ll be working at Lycée Flora
Tristan in Noisy-le-Grand; it’s a technical school. I’m hoping to find out more about my position
as September finishes wrapping up.
As we were by my graduate school, we thought we’d take the 5
or so minute walk over to see the Eiffel Tower.
It was gorgeous. After snapping a
few shots and strolling along, we headed to dinner in the 14th
arrondissement at Café d’Enfer – a very delicious restaurant where I treated
myself before returning home back in April.
The new thing of the day was the “Mailbox ORDEAL.” I had put my name on my mail box, but it had
been removed, so I put it up to the side (instead of over the previous
resident’s name) and put in a note to ask if it was a shared mail box. I will tell you – IT IS NOT. I had a very angry sounding phone message
from the owner of said mail box about me having access to HER box. She then proceeded to call me 7 times in the
next 2 hours (during dinner at a restaurant and on the metro for me). I called her back when I returned here and it
turns out she lives two doors down and is, in fact, nice. She is very firm in her opinions and was able
to give me a lot of helpful directions as she is one of the people in charge of
the apartment building itself. She was
livid with the agency and not (thankfully) with me. She talked to me for a good 30 or so minutes
and it has taken me many days to sort out the mailbox issue, but as of Thursday
(a few days ahead of this post) it was sorted out.

19th
I started the process of moving my bank account from
Freyming- Merlebach to Paris since the branches of one bank do not share info
and you must have one where you are living..
My parents and I spent the afternoon strolling over to the Latin
Quarter to see the Pantheon and the Luxembourg gardens.
Thursday – I escorted
my parents to the RER B for the trip home before my Graduate Orientation in the
afternoon!
