SUNDAY, September 16th

To finish off our trip in Ireland, we headed off to Glendalough, an old monastic city.  Our first obstacle of the day was: a road not wide enough for our car and one peacock…  Once we arrived at Glendalough, we hiked around a lake and a waterfall in a light rain before touring the monastic city and seeing what still stands.  Then it was off to see Powerscourt Waterfall on our way to the airport.

Our flight home was fairly uneventful until we arrived at the CDG airport of Paris that is.  We quickly discovered that the RER B was closed; the RER B is the train that takes you to central Paris..  We managed to get on a bus to take us to a functioning station only to have catastrophe land.

A man had allegedly hit a woman (from my understanding on the shoulder) while climbing up on the shuttle bus, which was PACKED of course.  Long story short, there were a lot of French officials yelling at him aggressively and insisting he get off the bus and not allowing the bus to leave with him on it.  He did not want to get off the bus.  Eventually they unloaded everyone from the bus and we got on a different bus whilst the French officials (about 5 of them) took the man to the floor by force (it was not clear that he was physically resisting).  Overall it was a bit shaking as there was lots of yelling in French and my parents did not fully understand what was going on.  After a fair bus ride, we did manage to get on a train back to my place.
