Weekend in Paris with Emily! – Friday, March 23rd through Sunday, March 25th

The entire weekend was beautiful. I never needed to wear my light trench coat over my cardigan and t-shirt!

Friday, I met up with Emily at our hotel and we went out to dinner and caught up some more.

Sunday, we headed off to an apartment agency to see if we could at least see pictures of some apartments to help get a feel for what my options might be for next year when I’m living and studying in Paris (for those who don’t know – I got into my NYU program - the first year is in Paris, the second in NYC). Turns out that that particular agency won’t help you unless you pay them a dossier fee – however, it was still a vaguely informative encounter.

The new plan was to wander around and get to know the areas where I might be living and look at apartment listings in agency windows, but that plan didn’t work too well. Emily and I stumbled upon some stores… all with 50% off signs. We had fun browsing and getting a thing or two.

THEN we went off to see where the foyer I might live in next year was with hopes of stumbling across a few rental agency windows. We walked for a while without seeing any agencies and then got completely turned around and went 100% in the wrong direction for a bit too long to turn back. We did, despite that, have a wonderful time walking since it was so lovely out. In the evening we had delicious Thai food at a place I’m going to have to remember!

Sunday took us a little by surprise. At checkout, the receptionist nicely asked if we had remembered to reset our clocks (since the daylight savings are different here than in the US); we, of course, had not. So we had a little less time to enjoy the market at the Bastille and stroll along the Seine than intended, but it was still quite nice.

One of my purchases…

Surprisingly the weekend included a few things I’ve never seen/done before: walking along the Seine, seeing Les Invalides, seeing the Bastille, and going to my first Paris non-Christmas market.
