I arrived in Paris without any problems and was pleasantly surprised that I actually RECOGNIZE a lot of places when coming out of some Metro exits! I had no problem finding the apartment I rented and it’s quite the cute little place! Having a little kitchen definitely tops a hotel! We are right in the middle of Montmartre, the 18th arrondissement. We’re about 7 minutes for the Moulin Rouge and maybe 10 from Sacre Coeur (haven’t made it that far yet!).
In the evening I met Professor Ellen Burt in the Bistro of Caves Perret. We chatted for about an hour and somehow she managed to focus all the talk on my life and graduate school letters of recommendation… So I never heard anything about her stay in Argentina!! She recommended a few places for me and Eric to go… We might check out one or two of them! It was really nice to see her and talk a little.
This morning… I PICKED ERIC UP AT THE AIRPORT!!! It’s great to have him here! He was pretty tired after the flight… so he decided to take a nap – 3-4 hours. While he napped (he wasn’t interested in food), I grabbed some lunch and picked up the last few things I need to make my stew (the same one I made for my birthday and it was amazingly delicious!!) for the evening. I’m going to have the first 2+ hours of cooking done by the time Eric is ready to try to wake up and plan on finishing it up after we wander around our arrondissement a little and see a thing or two in the area!
I’m hoping the time change isn’t too rough for Eric and that he’ll sleep through the night without any problems! I know I didn’t manage when I first got here…
