Friday night, Eric and I took a little walk around our area in Montmartre. We saw Sacre Coeur lit up at night and for the first time, I got to see the red light district lit up at night - the line in front of the Moulin Rouge was so long!!! Afterwards, we had a little candle lit dinner and Eric loved my Belgian Stew!
Saturday was our day at Versailles and man was it a full day! We toured the chateau before lunch. Eric was amazed by the chateau and very impressed with everything inside – I hadn’t thought too much about how he had never seen places like Versailles. After the chateau, we met up with Kallie Celeste to eat lunch and ate at a cute place that had a delicious apple tart. Then we went to finish up visiting the park and Marie Antoinette’s section of Versailles, but the weather turned on us and there was even hail! We still managed to visit the Temple of Love, the Hamlet, and a few other little things. We warmed ourselves up in a café with some tea before heading back to Paris. We finished the day with a fancy dinner in the Latin quarter (I had escargot, ?, and mousse au chocolat. Eric had French Onion Soup, rabbit, and sorbet.). Before crashing for the night, I showed Eric Notre Dame lit up at night.
Sunday, we visited Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, le Concierge, the Pantheon, the Arc of Triomphe, and the Champs Elysee.
- We were in the Notre Dame during mass (if you want to hear the music send me an email and I’ll shoot you a video) and decided we’d do the towers a different day since the line was too long.
- Eric was pretty excited to see that LAGRANGE was in the Pantheon and is a huge fan of circular staircases!
- Climbing the Arc de Triomphe is always fun, but it sure was cold! It was neat to see the Sacre Coeur from there since we were staying just at the base of it!
Monday was our day to visit the Louvre and l’Orangerie. I learned that Eric loves museums and looking at art. We signed up for the 2pm tour of the Louvre and headed off to see l’Orangerie and Monet’s Nympheas. I love the Nympheas; they are always amazing to see. We headed off and had a quick lunch in a café in the Tuileries park before our Louvre tour. My favorite is still La Victoire de Samothrace.
Before leaving the area, we stopped on the Pont des Arts and lit a candle (which is VERY difficult in strong winds and drizzle). We went to bed extra early this day since the full days and time change was catching up to Eric.Tuesday, we did the Catacombs first thing in the morning and then checked out the Musée d’Orsay. We finished this day off with going up the Eiffel Tour. Eric felt much more comfortable on the ground than up at the top!
