Trip to Metz – Friday, Jan. 6th through Sunday, Jan. 8th

Got dropped of at the train station by Dominique so I could head of to Metz for the weekend and hopefully meet up with Amanda – tentative plans had been made for her to stop by Metz. The receptionist was a very nice man; he even saved me a few euros on my hotel reservation and we had fun chatting for a few minutes. I had a number of issues with the hotel – internet didn’t work in my room and no hot water being the main ones… I went out and grabbed a little dinner, but mostly just relaxed.

Saturday, Amanda was supposed to come out, but had a conflict. Instead of spending the day with her I…

- got my room at the hotel changed (the goal was to have internet – success, was not expecting the room to be significantly nicer – if I stay there again, I might request that room, granted I never checked if it got hot water….).
- went to the Centre Pompidou-Metz museum (some of it was super CREEPY but the artistic furniture display was cool).
- ate lunch in a little Creperie and had some hot chocolate.
- browsed the massive sales going on in stores.
- went to the movies and saw LES INTOUCHABLES!!!! Great movie, highly recommend it!
- ate dinner in one of the places Eric and I had really liked – it wasn’t as tasty without him there to eat with…
- chatted online a little with Jenn and Eric before Skyping with my parents a bit.

Sunday, I took the morning really slow before heading off to try to visit the Temple Neuf in Metz since I still hadn’t managed that. I still haven’t managed that. I didn’t want to enter because it was quite possible that there was a service then because of all the cars and a few strollers in the entrance. Instead I sat its garden on the wall over the river and looked out for a bit until I got a little cold. I got a cup of tea before heading off to try a sushi restaurant (wasn’t impressed). On my way to the train station to go to Saarbrucken, I stopped at the Christmas Ferris Wheel that was still up and running and jumped on for a little spin! It was over so quickly, but that’s probably ‘cause I was working hard at taking photos…
