Nancy – Friday, Jan. 13th through Sunday, Jan. 15th

To get to Nancy, first off, I had to take the train to Metz and then take a different train to Nancy. On the train to Metz, a group of students (hs and younger) took an interest in me and we talked for a few minutes in French. Two of them actually live in my dorm, but have never spoken to me before. They were all very nice and even gentlemen-like in their manners (surprising since they seemed up to no good before they started talking to me). They were particularly excited to see and hold an American dollar bill. It was nice.

My hotel in Nancy ended up being perfectly located in the “old town,” which made it very easy for me to get around. The first night I was there, I managed to meet up with a huge group of assistants that all live and work in Nancy. I had a great time chatting with them and getting to know a few, though I opted to not go to a club with them at 2am and instead went back to my hotel to sleep a bit.

I mostly just wandered around and looked at the city – it could be described as “bourgeois.” I really liked it and could really see myself staying there for a month or so – it seemed laidback, but full of things to do. I took tons of photos and will work on posting more when I find a better way!

Place Stanilas at night

A flower - it was sunny, but a bit chilly out.

Place a la Carriere - maybe my favorite place in Nancy (at least for the moment).
