Back and first day – Sunday, Jan. 1st though Tuesday, Jan. 3rd
I dozed a little on my trains back to Freyming-Merlebach, but arrived without any problems. I got to Skype a little with my folks so that was quite nice.
Monday was still a holiday for the schools in my region and hence, I didn’t have work. I did a little laundry and bought my first stage of tickets for my February vacation – as of now, I have a plane flight from Saarbrucken to Berlin and a flight from Hamburg to London!!! I’m hoping for a few little hook-ups from some German friends I have for either recommendations of things to do, places to stay, and maybe meeting up with a friend or two of theirs while I’m in town – which would be awesome. I’ll have to get the rest of my tickets soon, but they are all trains and will be easy to reserve.
Tuesday, I had one hour of scheduled work, which ended up being cut short because the students flatly refused – in rude and angry ways – to do the presentations they had been preparing for the past 3 weeks IN CLASS… I was blown away.
Other than that interesting experience, I learned that despite being free the next day, a Wednesday that I normally am not available to work ‘cause I go to classes in Metz, none of the teachers wanted me to come to their classes. In the evening, I picked a little outing out for myself for my free Wednesday – as if I didn’t just get back from vacation…
(Also since it was the first day of the New Year at work – there were Galettes for the teachers to eat with a little plastic car inside – whoever had the piece with the car = king or queen for the day! I didn’t get it.)
