Friday
Friday, I had two classes. One was a bit tough; the teacher gave me four students for an hour… It gave me a pretty good feel for how limited their understanding is and of the fact that I have an accent or say things wrong to an extent.
After school, Françoise took me to Bliesbruck. It’s an archeological site of and old roman bathhouse and some of the surrounding foundations. It was moderately interesting, but not the most impressive. On the drive, I was able to start seeing the leaves change color, which was more interesting to me than the archeological site.
Saturday
Saturday, my morning bus never arrived; I had to push visiting Hombourg-Haut off to another weekend, which isn’t a big deal. I started looking into planning my trip next week a little more to pass the morning. I had a noon lunch-date, so I was looking forward to that.
I had lunch with Ophélie, the girl who works at the Office de Tourisme in Hombourg-Haut. We actually ate right near Françoise’s house. We ate at an interesting Pizzeria. I had Flammenkuchen – which is a regional dish. It is a lot like a very creamy pizza with bits of ham and onion; I’m not a big fan. Other than the food, it was really nice to eat with Ophélie and chat for about 2 hours. I’m hoping we can meet up again. I’ve been thinking I might be making a lot of Saturday trips to Saarbruck during the year, so it might work out.
When I got back from lunch, Françoise and Flo were about to go out to Saarbruck to walk around the shops or do a museum since it was sunny out and invited me to join them. We ended up walking around shops, mostly cooking shops. It was very fun for me, because they talked with the ppl who worked in the shops – in German. I got to hear more German than my first day trip; however, I realized that I need to do a lot of work on my German. I understood a fair amount, but couldn’t really talk or do things in the stores.
Sunday
I didn’t do much today other than finish my bookings for my vacation next week; I’m off to Belgium! I’ll be visiting Brussels, Ghent, and Bruges before spending a weekend in Paris. Should be fun!
