Football and the Unknown Celebration – Thursday, Nov. 17th

Today at the middle school, I did to do a presentation on (American) Football. I described the field, the basic way the came is played… how you score, etc. All of this was done with actions and my “football” or crumbled piece of newspaper. The boys loved it! The girls were not quite as excited by the topic. After I finished describing the game, then they had to read a football story – a real one, about my friends and I went we started playing football with the guys at the end of high school. They were pretty into that. One of the classes I have to finish up another time, but overall it went pretty well and I sure had fun!

By chance, I stumbled into the teachers lounge at the high school during the afternoon 10 minute break and was told that today was “La Journée de Nouveau Beaujolais.” “The Day of What?” you ask? Yes, this is the first day it is legal to drink Beaujolais wine… Then this wine is only good for the next two months (it’s a young wine). Le Nouveau Beaujolais is always the 3rd Thursday of November. November is going to be packed with holidays now! – Veterans Day, Le Nouveau Beaujolais, and Thanksgiving! That’s almost one per week!

To celebrate this special day, for the teachers, the school had a wine degustation (which most ppl do) and bread, cheese, pate, cold cuts, veggies, and more… You couldn’t really taste the all the different Beaujolais, just one or two. It was definitely an interesting evening and nice to have something different to do. I got to talk with some professors I hadn’t really met, and even a few retired professors – Afterwards, it was reported that I am very nice…
