Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 24th

In my post about Wednesday – I’m sure you could see the Thanksgiving Spirit here in France = Christmas markets… But I gave my presentation to my students all day about Thanksgiving… I had a simple history about the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving… and it was hard to explain it to them… but I managed. The part that was particularly fun, though, was with the “Big 5” (it’s a class of 5 really unmotivated boys); I did my football lesson with them. They liked it. I had them get up and throw my paper ball to each other and each time they caught it they said “I caught/catch the ball” and then “I throw the ball to__________” before throwing it to someone else. It’s hard to get that class excited about a subject, so I was extra fun when they all started participating.

After my middle school classes, I went to the “break” at the middle school (that means I went to the teacher’s lounge during a 10 minute period that everyone has free). At the break was one of the young English teachers from St. Avold, Priscilla. She was super nice and took one look at me and said to one of our teachers, “Can we trade?” Just the look of me was encouraging. LOL. We exchanged contact info and will hopefully do something sometime!

I got to talk on the telephone with my family before they sat down to dinner!! That was great! – And once again… no, there was not any type of Thanksgiving dinner here in France… For dinner… I had some type of soup with a sausage in it and a cheese filled pastry. (I love pastries...)
